The Americas: largest revenue generating region for data center network infrastructure

The data center network infrastructure market in the Americas dominated the global market with a market share of almost 48%. The high growth rate of the market in the region is attributable to the rising investments made on data center construction and renewable energy sources for data center operations. Within the Americas, the US has the most number of data centers followed by Latin America and Canada. The data center operations in the US are owned by global CSPs, colocation and managed hosting services vendors, and telecommunication organizations. During the forecast period, the US is expected to drive the market for 100GbE ports followed by increased adoption of 40GbE and 50GbE.

According to Abhishek Sharma, a lead analyst at Technavio, specializing in research on data center, “The emergence of open Ethernet is revolutionizing the data center infrastructure market. An alternative approach to traditional Ethernet switches, an initiative by Mellanox Technologies. It offers complete flexibility and an opportunity to custom-design to enhance utilization, efficiency, and gain better ROI. Open Ethernet includes open source components, such as OpenFlow and Quagga routing package, that are pre-integrated. Open Ethernet is a next level SDN, where the software resides on Ethernet switch hardware making it compatible with 10GbE, 25GbE, 40GbE, and 50GbE.
