IBM developed Eclipse in 2001 with the help of a few other vendors, and it is one of the most used solutions by software developers. It can be used to build and deploy code for application development to the cloud from Eclipse through IBM Bluemix hosted services.

The key vendors in the global IDE market include IBM, Intel, JetBrains, Red Hat, and SAP. This market has quite a few vendors. The level of competition among providers will increase as they come up with solutions for software development with integrated IT solutions like DevOps and container technology. In this market, some vendors have started offering web-based IDE solutions as it will help them to remain competitive and augment their market shares.
