Integrated Graphics Processors and Shared Graphics Solutions are New Evolutions in the GPU market: Technavio

Renewable energy

The global graphics processing unit (GPU) market was valued over $81 million in 2015 and is expected to surpass $67 million by 2020, says Technavio.

Technavio has announced its latest market research report on global GPU market to its embedded systems portfolio. This market analysis discusses the major drivers and key emerging trends that will influence the growth of the global GPU market during the forecast period. Some of the top vendors listed in this industry analysis include AMD and NVIDIA.

In terms of geographical analysis, APAC was the largest region in the global market and accounted around 37% of the total market share during 2015. China and Japan will emerge as the key revenue-generators.

The growing demand for enhanced visual content by end-users has increased the adoption of integrated graphics processors (IGP) and shared graphics solutions in computer systems. IGPs are part of the motherboard as a chipset like AMD APU or Intel HD Graphics. “These graphic solutions cost less and run graphically intensive programs and 3D games smoothly. The vendors are providing high graphics through integrated GPUs to meet the customer requirements for high memory graphics in their systems,” say Sunil Kumar Singh, a lead analyst at Technavio for research on embedded systems.

The new industry research report from Technavio analyzes some of the key drivers and trends responsible for the growth of this market and its sub-segments.

Increasing popularity of gaming laptops

The popularity of gaming laptops is very high in the market mainly due to factors like speed, ease of use, higher quality parts, and longevity of these systems. These systems are specially designed to reduce or eliminate time lag while playing and support faster graphic data processing rate. The vendors have designed systems to run high-resolution games, and it also runs software like Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and Google Chrome, same as any other professional laptops. The gaming computers are built with superior quality parts that offer clearer picture, better sound, more memory, and faster processors that efficiently use battery power. These consoles are technologically more advanced than regular laptops and consumers face less hardware and processing problems. The emergence of new innovative technology has increased the average lifespan of a gaming laptop.

Growing requirement of high memory GPU

The new PC games have a higher graphic necessity which has augmented to the increasing demand for high memory graphic cards. The growing number of PC games require more resolution and faster processing rate which does not lag while playing. Such change has compelled graphic processor vendors to focus on producing GPUs that are compatible with high memory graphics. Such innovations in technology will assist the growth of the market during the forecast period.

Increasing demand for enhanced visual content by end-users

The evolution in gaming graphics has revolutionized the GPU market. Consumers are now seeking for enhanced visual experience and improved visual quality of graphics while playing games. Visual experience is one of the differentiating factor among consumers while selecting a graphics card for their PCs or gaming consoles. The AAA game designer looks for the latest graphic card while designing their games, which will result in the evolution of the graphics processing unit market.
