London, 26 June 2015 – Technavio, a tech-focused research firm, published a new report on the global roofing material market, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of close to 6% from 2015-2019.

According to the latest report by Technavio, there is rapid growth in construction activity, as, globally, more people live in urban areas than in rural areas. The growth of urbanization is faster in APAC (Asia-Pacific) and Africa than in other regions.

“The construction industry is one of the largest end-user segments in the roofing materials market. Buildings and renovation activities are particularly high in developing countries, which is a potential indicator of rising standards of living,” says Faisal Ghaus, Vice President of Technavio.

The new Technavio report also emphasizes green roofing. Green roofing involves covering the roof of a building with vegetation that is planted over a waterproof membrane. Green roofs save on energy used for cooling and heating inside the building and act as insulators by absorbing heat.

“A green roof is more expensive than conventional roofing materials, but it can offset the cost in the long run by saving energy, filtering rainwater runoff, and also has a longer life than other roofing materials,” says Ghaus.
