London, 15 May 2015 – Technavio has published a new report on the global radio market, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of almost 4% from 2015-2019.

The latest industry analysis report by Technavio indicates that the main selling point for radio remains that the technology is predominantly free.

“Apart from the subscription fee for a few premium radio stations and satellite radio subscriptions, there are no charges involved in listening to broadcast radio channels,” says Faisal Ghaus, Vice President of Technavio.

The Technavio report also emphasizes bundled services that are increasingly being offered by vendors like Pandora, which offer both online radio and streaming music services. Such bundled services give users the flexibility to choose music content.

“Listeners can either tune into live radio or stream on-demand music. This trend is expected to have a positive impact on the market during the forecast period,” says Ghaus.

Furthermore, the trend of internet radio is also gaining traction. The increase in internet penetration and the availability of mobile internet has resulted in an increased demand for internet radio. The internet removes the need for a dedicated device as the listener can stream radio over a PC or smartphone via the internet.
