The Americas: largest revenue generating region for DCIM market

The DCIM market in the Americas was valued at around $513 million in 2015 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of almost 12% by 2020. The region is witnessing increasing investments in renewable energy sources for data center operations. The data centers in the US are owned by global CSPs, colocation and managed hosting services vendors and telecommunication organizations. The renewable energy source is powering the modern data center projects undertaken in the Americas to reduce power consumption and carbon emissions. The increasing government regulations towards environmental protection is compelling data center operators to adopt DCIM solutions to reduce power consumption and carbon emission.

The vendors are renovating old data centers and integrating equipment compliant with environment protection guidelines. The data center operators are adopting DCIM solutions that have modern hardware like sensors and controllers. Massive data center projects in the Americas are being carried out by global CSPs, and colocation and telecommunication vendors to reduce the OPEX and enable efficient capacity planning for better use of the existing infrastructure,” says Rakesh Kumar Panda, a lead analyst at Technavio, specializing in research on the data center.

 DCIM market in EMEA

The DCIM market in EMEA was valued at about $316 million in 2015 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of over 17% by 2020. The colocation and managed hosting data centers are the main data center operators in the Western Europe region. The CSPs and colocation vendors are adopting cloud-based services for small and medium-sized enterprises. The growing number of smart cities is also resulting in the construction of new data centers. The government of the UK has approved energy efficiency standards which in turns is leading to projects that use renewable energy to reduce OPEX charges. The DCIM market is still evolving in the GCC and African areas. This part of the EMEA market consists of many small data center projects.  The shortage of power in some African countries is prompting data center operators to adopt DCIM solutions to monitor power consumption in those provinces. The investments in data centers and adoption of renewable energy will help the market in EMEA to grow during the forecast period.
