This market study report segments the global collision avoidance system market on the basis of functionality (ACC, BSD, FCW, and LDWs). The research report includes market shares for APAC, Americas, and EMEA. The leading market players analyzed in the report include Continental, Delphi, Bosch, and TRW Automotive.

Technavio has released updated information on the automotive market, with the publication of its new market research report, global collision avoidance system market. The global collision avoidance system market is expected to generate revenue worth US $11 billion between 2015 and 2019, due to increasing emphasis on road safety solutions, especially collision avoidance systems such as FCW, BSD, LDWS, and ACC. Currently, the Americas dominate the market in terms of revenue generation, occupying around 45% of the total market share. However, APAC is expected to be the fastest growing region during the forecast period. Growing safety concerns among consumers and governments authorities because of the congested traffic in countries such as India and China, is driving this market’s growth in APAC.

“The automotive industry is increasingly adopting collision avoidance and driver assistance systems to achieve zero road accidents. Consequently, the automobile manufacturers in collaboration with automotive safety and automotive camera manufacturers are integrating video sensing, radar sensing, and data fusion in a single module. This technology combination includes pedestrian detection and protection systems, FCW, ACC, LDWS, and lane assistance, and parking assistance. For instance, TRW Automotive has recently launched its first fusion system that integrates radar and advanced cameras systems, for commercial vehicles and passenger cars, to enhance the safety and automated function of vehicles,” says Sriram Mohan, Lead Analyst, Automotive, Technavio Research.

With consumers and governments becoming more aware about their vehicles’ safety systems, the manufacturers are installing cameras and sensors, even in entry-level vehicles. This has increased the demand for in-vehicle electronic devices to scrutinise situations and prevent accidents, by examining road conditions and warning drivers of possible threats. Automobile manufacturers are equipping vehicles with various driver assistance and safety systems such as surround-view systems, NVS and pedestrian protection systems.

The leading vendors in the global collision avoidance system market are Continental, Delphi, Bosch, and TRW Automotive. The competition among the existing market players is set to intensify with renewed efforts on improving product features. The collision avoidance systems manufacturers are focusing on manufacturing low-cost systems to attain a competitive edge in the market.
