- Infrastructure innovations
- Rise in the construction of green data center facilities
Technavio has released a new market research report on the data center construction market in Nordics, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of 22% between 2016 and 2020. The data center construction market in the Nordic region is among the fastest-growing across the globe. The demand for cloud-based services and the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) has prompted enterprises in the Nordic region to construct data centers. Of late, the enterprises are focusing on the construction of green data center facilities to reduce power consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
The new industry research report from Technavio discusses in detail the key drivers and trends responsible for the growth of this market and its sub-segments.
“Of late, the vendors are innovating multi-mode UPS systems, renewable energy sources, and rack embedded PDUs to improve the efficiency of data center facilities and offer higher availability at lower latency. Date center operators are adopting cooling techniques such as aisle containment, free cooling, and liquid immersion cooling to reduce the amount of heat exhausted by IT equipment. They are modifying racks with improved flexibility for better cable management and in-rack cooling installations. These infrastructure innovations will aid to this market’s growth in the region by 2020,” says Rakesh Panda, Lead Analyst, ICT, Technavio Research
Several data centers in the Nordic region comply with green standards as they are powered by renewable energy sources and use free cooling techniques. These data centers are developed with a PUE of around 1.3 with the exception of modular facilities that have a PUE of less than 1.3. Vendors are implementing concepts such as free cooling, use of renewable energy sources, consolidation, and waste recycling in the green data center construction.
The leading players in the data center construction market in Nordics are AECOM, Arup Associates, DPR Construction, MDC Stockholm and Mercury Engineering. Many colocation vendors are expected to establish data centers in the region, driven by the increasing demand from local enterprises.
