Global sodium bentonite market: Sodium bentonite is commonly used as a sealant in industries owing to its high swelling properties. It also finds applications as binders, liner material, suspension agents, and in concrete, wall boards, cement tiles, and water-proofing building materials. Sodium bentonite is also used in healthcare as a poultice or as an external detoxifier of skin and feet.
“There is an increasing trend toward the usage of compacted bentonite for radioactive waste repositories. It is used as backfill (buffer) material for geological disposal of radioactive wastes in many countries,” says Ajay Adikari, a lead analyst at Technavio for research on metals and minerals.
Global calcium bentonite market: Natural calcium bentonite (green clay) has high adsorption properties and is therefore known for its curative and healing powers. Calcium bentonite is considered extremely good when taken internally for detoxifying. It is the main ingredient of Fuller’s earth, an industrial cleaning agent.
Global others bentonite market: Some of the other product forms include aluminum and potassium. Potassium bentonite is formed from the alteration of volcanic ash.
