The most commonly used air conditioner systems in data centers are chilled water systems. The water is provided by chilled water plants called chiller units installed in the data center building. The combination of cooling towers with chillers or condenser units will be the primary driver for this market segment. The integration of these systems helps to lower the heat dissipated by data center equipment. Water-cooled chillers are considered more energy-efficient as the heat levels in these systems are rejected near wet-bulb temperatures. Cooling towers are used with HVAC systems that use multiple water source heat pumps, sharing a common piping water loop. These systems also help cooling operating units of the data center by expelling hot air to the external environment.
