This global market research report provides a comprehensive analysis of the wind automation market by product (geared motors and drives, DCS, SCADA, and PLC). It outlines the market shares for key regions such as the Americas, APAC, and EMEA. The prominent vendors analyzed in this report are ABB, Emerson Electric, Schneider Electric, and Siemens.

Technavio has released a new market research report on the global wind automation market, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of more than 8% between 2016 and 2020. Wind energy is the cheapest among all renewable sources of power generation with negligible CO2 emissions. Technavio’s analysts estimate that investments in the technology research for wind power will grow at a CAGR of 40% during the forecast period. These investments will include research for new and advanced turbines, control systems, advanced substations and wind farms, and new power generation and transmission grid technology. APAC dominates the wind automation market, accounting for 48% of the overall market share. The region witnessed around $54 billion investment in the market, where China and India were the leading revenue contributors.

The new industry research report from Technavio discusses in detail the key drivers and trends responsible for the growth of this market and its sub-segments.

“Several nations across the world have introduced subsidies and incentives to encourage offshore wind power projects. Governments are providing strong incentives to help developers build offshore wind farms. Moreover, the demand for automation solutions from the offshore wind power projects is increasing owing to the growing need for GHG emissions reductions,” says Bharath Kanniappan, Lead Analyst, Industrial Automation, Technavio Research

SCADA dominates the wind automation market, and the segment is expected to generate revenues around$97 billion by 2020. SCADA is used in wind farms, substations, and plants. The rise in electricity generation using wind power has significantly increased the demand for advanced SCADA. SCADA also helps to enforce inter-connect agreements because using this system the operator can control all the turbines as if it is one unit.

The leading vendors in the global wind automation market are ABB, Emerson Electric, Schneider Electric, and Siemens. This market is highly competitive. In this market, the large international companies generate the majority of their revenue from direct sales and the local and regional players through indirect sales. Technavio’s analysts foresee a rise in the use of automation solutions in the wind power industry. This, in turn, will increase the number of small vendors that provide automation solution, entering the market. These new entrants are expected to roll out their products through resellers, VARs, or system integrators due to lack of market presence and brand visibility.
