The Tesla Roadster brought American automotive giant Tesla into the limelight, and since then the electric-car manufacturer has seen major success. Known for its innovative design and use of electric vehicle powertrain components, Tesla has proven time and again that automotive technology can be both environmentally-friendly and high performing. While the media is going crazy over the recently introduced two-year lease options for Tesla Model S and Model X, car enthusiasts and automotive industry experts are awaiting the sale of the most anticipated Tesla Model 3.

Touted as being one of the most affordable luxury cars, Model 3 is seen as a state-of-art vehicle that will redefine the functionality of electric cars.

Tesla Model 3: the details

Built on Tesla’s third-generation platform, Model 3 has already gained major attention due to its consumer-friendly price of 35,000 USD. In spite of being 20% smaller than Tesla’s bestselling electric plug-in vehicle Model S, Model 3 can run up to nearly 215 miles per charge and can accommodate 5 people, child seating, and a 7-foot surfboard. Additionally, the single pane glass design on the roof of the car provides a greater sense of spaciousness for passengers.

Another outstanding feature of the Tesla Model 3 is that it does not have a separate consoles. The 15-inch touchscreen display provides everything, along with navigation information and a complete entertainment system. The purpose behind such a large touchscreen display is to ensure that it is visible to both drivers and passengers. The makers of Model 3 want everyone inside the vehicle to have an equally enjoyable experience.

Regarded as an amazingly ‘clean’ car, Model 3 does not include a fake grille or openings. Instead, it has an aerodynamic nose that maximizes the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Model 3 also has large battery cells, with eight battery nodules arranged length-wise. The central console of the vehicle features 2 USB ports, something that other Tesla models do not have. Other features include supercharge enabling and autopilot hardware. Designed to achieve the highest ratings in every category, Tesla Model 3 is a major development in sustainability and safety.

The electric car market

The global automotive industry has undergone significant changes in the past few decades. Electric cars, which were previously considered an alternate to sport cars, are now being made available to the masses and will ultimately replace fuel-based vehicles. Apart from being eco and user-friendly, one key reason behind the popularity of electric cars is the increase in the number of individuals using solar panels, especially in western countries. Market analysts have found a direct correlation between solar panels and electric cars. With more and more families switching to residential solar systems, more and more electric cars are being purchased. This can be further explained by the fact that, within two days of its unveiling, Model 3 had 232,000 reservations.
