Have you ever wanted to run a marathon, lift a car, or do a flagpole hold? There’s an app for that (well, maybe not the car).
Even if high intensity, high performance isn’t your thing, you can find everything from full on couch potato remediation to basic step counters and activity monitors in your local app store.
There’s even an app that meows at you to sit up straight if that’s more your vibe.
Of course, these apps aren’t perfect—the step counts can be inaccurate, especially when they rely solely on your phone’s accelerometer, and not on an external tracker like a Fitbit.
That being said, step counting is only one part of most fitness apps. The top vendors in the market run the gamut from training and workouts to sleep and nutrition trackers. And consumers are snapping them up with gusto; in 2015 just over 208 million fitness apps were downloaded by consumers worldwide, and we expected this number to reach 372 million by 2020.

This translates into about $2.62 billion in revenue in the global fitness apps market by 2020.
The top vendors in the market cover as much ground as their offerings. Some are free, some are paid; some are meant to complement a wearable tracker while some are standalone apps.
But no matter where your goals fall on the health and fitness spectrum, one of these vendors is sure to have the perfect app for you.
