International players in the market space to acquire local and regional players for inorganic growth

Technavio, a company that develops over 2000 pieces of research every year and covers more than 500 technologies across 80 countries, has announced the top five vendors for the global machine vision market in their latest research report. This report also lists three other prominent vendors who are expected to contribute to this market’s growth between 2017-2021.

Competitive vendor landscape

The global market for machine vision is highly fragmented in nature. The regional and local players in the market space focus on offering cost-effective customized automation control systems. International players, on the other hand, are continuously innovating and developing their competitiveness through R&D investments. Increased product extensions, technological innovations, and rise in M&As is expected to intensify the competition in the market space over the next four years.

According to Bharath Kanniappan, a lead analyst at Technavio for research on automation, “International players are anticipated to grow inorganically during the forecast period by acquiring regional or local players. For instance, during May 2016, Teledyne DALSA acquired CARIS for almost USD 27 million. CARIS is a geospatial software designed for the hydrographic and marine community and is part of the Digital Imaging.”
