Global EWHS Market – New Market Research Report

Renewable energy

The global EVWHS market was valued at more than USD 2 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach around USD 11 billion by 2021, says Technavio.

Technavio has announced its latest market research report on the global electric vehicle wiring harness system (EVWHS) market, under its automotive electronics portfolio. This market analysis discusses the major drivers and key emerging trends and offers an analysis of key vendors like Delphi, LEONI, Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, and TE Connectivity.

According to Sharan Raj, a lead analyst for automotive electronics research at Technavio, “The increased adoption of automation in manufacturing plants over the last five years has improved the quality, reliability, and integration of advanced technologies into the products. It has also helped reduce wastage and thereby the overall cost for manufacturers.”

In the WHS manufacturing process, automation is incorporated from the initial stages. Once the material and placement of the wiring harness have been selected, a form board or map is the first output from the process. Advanced design tools can be utilized to automate the form board development process to provide information about the design changes.

Increased adoption of safety features with use of direct drive motors (DDM) in EVs allowing simpler WHS

Electric motors have the greatest torque at start up, and this feature can eliminate the need for transmission as no shifting of power is needed for electric motors. The use of DDM or in-wheel motors, which directly powers the wheels without the use of transmission, allows electronic control on brakes and acceleration. This allows easy installation of vehicle dynamic control features.

Shifting preference towards clear packaging

Companies like Delphi, Molex, and TE Connectivity have started using 3D printing for prototype development and designing. During the forecast period, the market is projected to witness a wide-scale adoption of 3D printing for the manufacture of wiring harnesses owing to shorter design cycles and faster production requirements.
