When a bypass surgery is complete, a cardiologist takes over with angioplasty to restore normal blood flow in the arteries. To reduce the chance of re-blockage of the artery, a bare metal stent is used. The hybrid procedure has the best of both the bypass surgery and stenting by using an MI surgical procedure and are therefore beneficial for patients.
