London, 03 September 2015 – Technavio, a tech-focused research firm, has published a new report on the global MEMS market for consumer electronics, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of over 10% from 2015-2019.

According to the new report by Technavio, the availability of low-cost smartphones integrated with MEMS devices in emerging markets like China and India and the increased access to the Internet worldwide, are expected to increase the shipments of smartphones integrated with MEMS devices by more than 2 billion units by 2019.

“As the number of tablets sold by regional vendors increase, it follows that sensors, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and microphones, which are integral parts of such devices, will undergo a similar rise in demand, leading to the growth of the market,” says Faisal Ghaus, Vice President of Technavio.

The report also underlines portable electronic devices such as smartphones, gaming consoles, and tablets, which become obsolete after a short time because of the rapid launch of next-version models by vendors.

“The short product replacement cycle time leads to the demand for microelectromechanical system in newly launched electronic devices, and this demand is expected to rise significantly, which will boost the market growth,” adds Ghaus.
